Nuzul Al Quran is a Muslim festival to remember the day when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) recieved his first revelation of Islam’s sacred book, the holy Quran. As per scholars, the date of revelation is unknown to the Muslim community, but many hadiths suggest that the holy Quran was revealed in the last 10 odd nights of Ramadan. However, some Islamic scholars suggest the origination of Islam as religion took place 17th of Ramadan, with the descent of the holy Quran. The day is known as Nuzul Al Quran and carries immense significance in Muslims worldwide.

Nuzul Quran meaning

Nuzul or Nuzuool means the descent of something special. Therefore, Nuzul Al Quran means the descent of the holy book of Quran from heaven to earth. The act signifies the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by Angel Jibrail.

Nuzul Al Quran 2022: It will occur on April 19th, 2022.

History of Nuzul Quran

The first recital of the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by the Angel Jibrail, and this is known as Nuzul Al-Quran. Jibrail visited Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while the Prophet was doing Ibadah in the Cave of Hira on mount Jabal al Nour near Makkah. He took refuge in the cave to get away from the people’s terrible deeds. In the holy month of Ramadan, Jibrail revealed the first five verses of Surah Al-Alaq to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). After this initial revelation, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had numerous more revelations of the holy scripture over the remainder of his life. Scribes collected all these revelations and assembled them into a document that eventually became the holy Quran.

Significance of Nuzul Quran

The celebration of the Nuzul Quran is noteworthy because it commemorates the day Allah gave mankind his last direction, the holy Quran. It’s a day when Muslims reflect on the verses of the sacred book and try to inculcate Allah’s teachings in their lives. It is believed that as long as one is in synchronization with the book, the individual will have better relationships with the community and mankind. The Quran also directs humanity on the rightful path shown by Allah, the almighty. Nuzul Al-Quran reminds Muslims across the globe about the necessity of not just reading but also comprehending the meaning of the Quran’s verses. It also emphasizes the holy book as a guide for Muslims while practicing Ibadah or spiritually connecting with Allah (SWT).
