As the 2nd edition of Riyadh Season 2021 comes to an end, numbers suggest that it was a massive success. It began on Oct. 20, 2021, and had come to an end after hosting 14 activity zones and greeting 15 million guests over the course of its five-month run. The General Entertainment Authority of the Kingdom was in charge of organizing the event (GEA).
Riyadh Season had its debut in 2019, and it attracted over 10 million people. In the 1st Riyadh Season, which took place in 2019, 12 zones were set up for the celebrations, and a variety of activities were organized, including a BTS K-Pop concert, WWE Crown Jewel, Cirque du Soleil, and Comic-Con, to appeal to a vast and diversified global audience.
It is one of Saudi’s numerous projects aimed at boosting economic and tourist activities, with an emphasis on non-religious tourism. As Saudi Arabia strives toward a more progressive future, the Riyadh Season is in accordance with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s Vision 2030. International visitors may now enter Saudi Arabia with ease, as the kingdom has intended to encourage tourism by making e-visa registration, a quick and painless procedure.
2nd Edition of Riyadh Season
Tourists from 125 nations came to see the 2nd edition of Riyadh Season, which was introduced under the slogan “Imagine More”. Riyadh Season entertained its guests with over 7,500 activities, including 70 Arab concerts, six worldwide concerts, ten global exhibits, 350 theatrical performances, 18 Arab plays, and six global plays. Thousands of music, art, cultural, cuisine, and sports activities were held across the 13 zones of Riyadh Season. Sean Paul, Pitbull, Amr Diab, and Mohamed Hamaki were among the numerous artists that performed during the Riyadh Season 2021. Hundreds of Saudi nationals, residents, and tourists dressed up as their favorite movie and cartoon characters for Riyadh Season 2, which was a part of the Kingdom’s first cosplay event. Two international wrestling matches, a freestyle wrestling competition, 100 interactive and electronic gaming experiences, and many other events were also a part of the Riyadh Season 2021.
Riyadh Season Zones
The Riyadh Season zones, including Boulevard Riyadh City, Winter Wonderland, Zaman Village, al-Murabba, and Riyadh Front, were open for nine hours each day, while the Riyadh Safari zone was open for eleven hours, and the Combat Field zone was open for eight.
1. Boulevard Riyadh City: Riyadh Season’s most popular zone was Boulevard Riyadh City. It includes many dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities, along with theater and musical acts.
2. Riyadh’s Winter Wonderland: It is the world’s largest transportable amusement park. It provides guests of all ages with open-air entertainment experiences and activities, such as games and rides.
3. The Zaman Village Zone: The Zaman Village Zone celebrates Saudi Arabia’s historical and cultural history by reviving the past and creating an ambiance that replicates life in those times.
4. Al-Murabba: Riyadh Season’s ultimate eating destination, Al-Murabba Palace, brings renowned restaurants worldwide to Saudi Arabia’s capital.
5. Riyadh Front: Riyadh Front is known for hosting art fairs, and jewelry and fashion festivals. It also has a plethora of food and entertainment options.
6. Riyadh Safari: The Safari Experience and the Safari Park in Riyadh provide tourists an interactive and realistic interactions with the elements of nature by offering an atmosphere that allows visitors to observe and engage with animals closely.
7. The Combat Field: It is aimed toward fans of war games since it is said to mimic the authentic atmosphere of combat. There are also exhibits for the selling of weaponry.
The Riyadh Season 2021 successfully established the Saudi capital as a major worldwide and regional entertainment, and tourism destination.
